Fine Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "N. CLARK & CO / LYONS," NY State origin, circa 1840, cylindrical crock with applied lug handles and tooling to shoulder and rim, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a flowering plant with well-detailed blossoms and leaves. Slip-trailed "2" twice at shoulder. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Some fry to cobalt. A few rim chips and a minor rim nick. A chip to one handle. A small in-the-firing base chip. H 9".
