Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "M. WOODRUFF, / CORTLAND," NY State origin, circa 1867-1869, ovoid jar with tooled rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed leaf beside a freehand "2." Brushed cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Incised "X" to shoulder and above handle. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a small ping to reverse. H 10 1/4".
