Two Pieces of James River Valley of Virginia Stoneware, 19th century, a one-gallon jar with the cobalt stenciling, "CHINA PALACE / C.G. TAYLOR. / PETERSBURG. VA," attributed to A.P. Donaghho, Parkersburg, WV, circa 1880; paired with a two-gallon jar with brushed floral motifs on the front and reverse, attributed to Samuel Frayser, Henrico County, VA, circa 1821-1849. Petersburg jar with a small chip to interior of rim, some fry to cobalt, and a short, in-the-firing surface line to base. Frayser jar with surface wear, traces of old paint, and rim chips. H (of Frayser jar) 12 1/2".
