Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Impressed Federal Drape Decoration, Stamped "CHARLESTOWN," attributed to Frederick Carpenter, Charlestown, MA, circa 1812-1827, highly-ovoid jug with footed base and heavily-tooled spout, decorated with three impressed drape motifs at the shoulder. Upper and lower body of jug decorated with dipped iron-oxide slip. Includes old wooden stopper affixed inside spout. A 1/4" filled hole in shoulder on front. A few typical in-the-firing flaws to surface, including a 1 3/8" glazed-over in-the-firing iron ping on left side of jug. Very minor in-the-firing nicks to base. H 15 1/2".
