Large-Sized Manganese-Decorated Redware Bowl, attributed to Thomas Haig or James and Thomas Haig (Jr.), Philadelphia, PA, mid 19th century, tapered bowl with rounded rim and coggled shoulder, decorated around the body with cloud-like manganese sponging and around the rim with additional sponging, all under a clear lead glaze. Provenance: The Estate of Susan H. Myers, author of Handcraft to Industry and former Smithsonian Curator of Ceramics and Glass. Rim wear. Light surface wear to exterior. Small flakes and wear to interior base area. Dimensions: 13 1/4" x 5 1/2".
