One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Butter Crock, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'," PA origin, circa 1850-1880, cylindrical crock with footed base, squared rim, and extruded lug handles, decorated with brushed swag motifs on the front and reverse, applied over slip-coated clay. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A top-to-bottom crack from rim on one side. A hairline extending across underside and 2 1/2" up base. Water glass staining to interior. H 6" ; Diam. 9 3/8".
