Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'," PA origin, circa 1850-1880, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and squared rim, decorated with upswept swags including two unusual freehand X's, all over a slip-coated surface. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a small, minor Y-shaped surface fissure on underside, not visible on interior. H 8 5/8".
