Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'," PA origin, circa 1850-1880, bowl-shaped jar with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a spotted tulip motif over slip-coated clay. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A thin 6" crack from rim on reverse. A hairline across underside, continuing onto base on front and reverse. A slender 1 3/8" in-the-firing base chip. A small in-the-firing rim chip. H 10" ; Diam. 10 3/4".
