Fine Celadon-Glazed Stoneware Canning Jar with Cobalt Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'," PA origin, circa 1850-1880, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and tall collar with squared rim, the surface covered in a streaky, grayish glaze and decorated with heavy cobalt sponging around the shoulder. Among the finer John Bell stoneware canning jars that we have offered. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with two minor in-the-firing chips to underside at edge. H 7 1/2".
