Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug, Lanier County, GA origin, fourth quarter 19th century, cylindrical jug with tooled shoulder and distinctive, bell-shaped spout, the surface covered in a streaky, greenish alkaline glaze over a light clay ground. A 2 1/4" in-the-firing chip to base. Two chips to top edge of spout. Glazed-over, in-the-firing surface crazing. A short, in-the-firing surface fissure to upper handle terminal. H 14".
