Fine One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Profuse Cobalt Decoration, Western PA origin, circa 1870, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a large freehand fuchsia vine design above a stenciled wreath surrounding the number, "1 1/2." Freehand wavy stripe decoration flanking the wreath. Freehand stripes to shoulder and base. Outstanding decoration. Excellent condition with some staining. H 10 7/8".
