Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jar with Stenciled Cherries Motif, Stenciled "Hamilton & Jones.," Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1870, tapered jar with tooled shoulder and rounded "wax sealer" rim, decorated with a stenciled cherries motif below the stenciled maker's mark, "Hamilton & Jones." Freehand stripe below rim. Desirable stenciled motif. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with some in-the-firing mottling to surface, light staining, and a very minor 1" in-the-firing fissure to underside. H 7 7/8".
