Extremely Rare Rockingham-Glazed Pitcher, Stamped "W.A. MACQUOID & CO. / N.Y.," William A. MacQuoid, Manhattan, NY origin (modern-day Greenwich Village), circa 1870, high-styled pitcher with footed base, angular body, heavily-tooled molding to shoulder, and rope-twist handle, the surface covered in a mottled reddish-brown glaze. The only example of Macquoid Rockinghamware that we have seen, as well as the only piece of pottery bearing this specific, circular Macquoid maker's mark. Excellent condition with a minuscule nick where spout meets rim of pitcher. H 9".
