Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "C. CROLIUS, / MANUFACTURER, / NEW-YORK," Manhattan, NY origin, circa 1815, highly-ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded spout, decorated with a brushed foliate motif related to earlier incised designs from Manhattan. Cobalt highlights to upper handle terminal. Small surface chips near base. Deeply-worn areas to handle, a chip to underside at edge, a small in-the-firing iron ping at base, and some wear to midsection. H 13".
