Two-Gallon Rondout, NY Stoneware Advertising Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to A.K. Ballard, Burlington, VT, Northeastern U.S. origin, third quarter 19th century, cylindrical jug with tapered spout, decorated with a slip-trailed, scrolled stem with fan-shaped blossom. Impressed with the cobalt-highlighted advertising, "G.W. SMITH & CO / GARDEN ST / RONDOUT." A 3/4" chip to side of handle. Some fry cobalt. Two very short, vertical base cracks. H 14 1/4".
