Unusual Two-Gallon Rondout, NY Stoneware Advertising Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, NY State origin, circa 1850, cylindrical jug with squared spout, decorated with a brushed design of a long-tailed bird feeding on a leaf. Impressed above with the cobalt-highlighted advertising, "S WEINER / RONDOUT N Y." Two spout chips, a few spout nicks, and a short line in top of spout. A small in-the-firing iron ping to side and base of jug. Staining to surface. Wear to cobalt of bird's eye. H 14 1/2".
