Unusual Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Swan Decoration, Northeastern U.S. origin, possibly Albany, NY, early 19th century, ovoid jar with flared collar and applied lug handles, decorated on the front with a brushed design of swimming swan, and on the reverse with abstract brushed stripe designs. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A 1 3/4" chip to exterior of rim on reverse. Small chips to interior of rim. Some tiny surface flakes to exterior. A 1" chip to underside. Other minor base chips. A 7 1/2" vertical surface line ascending from base, not visible on interior. Some additional short surface lines to base, not visible on interior. H 13 1/2".
