Rare Ten-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Churn, Stenciled "HAMILTON & / JONES, / GREESNBORO, / PA. / PA.," circa 1875, large-sized, cylindrical churn with tooled shoulder, flared collar, and vertical open handles, decorated stenciled foliate designs and Hamilton & Jones maker's stenciling. Stenciled "10" with flourishes at base. Exceptional size and highly unusual, vertical-handled form. Note the repeated stencil of the abbreviation, "PA." with leaf design below. A 13 1/2" crack from rim on front. Chipping to inner rim for lid. Salt drip to base. Two salt drips to underside. Two minor rim nicks on reverse. H 22".
