Stoneware Spaniel Doorstop, attributed to George Bagnall, Newcomerstown, Tuscawaras County, OH, circa 1870, molded in the form of a swell-bodied spaniel with open front legs, seated on an oblong plinth. Wonderful, stylized form with chip carving throughout and incised details to face, collar, locket, and feet. Traces of old paint to surface. Excellent condition with some minor expected surface wear. H 9 1/2".
