Fine Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Incised Decoration, Stamped "I. SEYMOUR / TROY," NY State origin, circa 1830, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and applied lug handles, decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted foliate motif inspired by the early Manhattan style. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Several small rim chips on reverse. A small rim chip on front. A 1 1/8" in-the-firing base chip. Additional, very minor in-the-firing chipping to base. A minuscule nick to one handle. Some light staining. H 11 1/8".
