Rare Small-Sized Stoneware Jar with Cobalt "1833" Date and Star Decoration, NJ origin, probably Eaton & Stout, South River, 1833, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and tall collar, decorated with three brushed stars surrounding the date, "1833." Exceptional size with appealing brushwork. Provenance: From a recently-surfaced collection. A long, thin in-the-firing flake to underside near bottom edge. A 2" surface line to midsection on right side of jar and a 1 1/8" line from base on same side, both not visible on interior. Interior of rim with three chips and several tiny nicks. H 6 1/4".
