Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Watch Spring Decoration, Manhattan, NY or Cheesequake, NJ origin, late 18th century, ovoid jar with footed base tooled shoulder, and open loop handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a slip-trailed "watch spring" motif. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Slip-trailed "2" below each handle. Rim chips. Short vertical lines at base, not visible on interior. In-the-firing chipping around base. A 5 1/2" horizontal surface line to shoulder, not visible on interior. H 11 1/2".
