Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / MANUFACTURER / NEW-YORK," Manhattan, NY origin, circa 1820, ovoid jug with heavily-tooled spout, decorated a brushed stylized drape motif. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Appealing runs of brown slip with heavy "orange peel" texture descend from the spout. Excellent condition with a small base chip and some typical in-the-firing flaws to surface. H 14".
