Two Rare New York State Stoneware Jugs with Cobalt Decoration, circa 1835, both of one-gallon capacity and ovoid form, one with brushed anchor decoration, stamped "C. DILLON & Co. / ALBANY," the other with brushed floral decoration, stamped "JOHN J FAKE / LANSINGBURGH." Dillon jug with significant restoration throughout, including a thin unrestored section of a crack to midsection, a small amount of cobalt touch-up, and in-the-firing chips to underside. Fake jug with two chips and light wear to bottom edge, a horizontal crack through base of handle, and two spots of fry to cobalt. H (of Dillon jug) 11 1/2".
