Two Newark, NJ Stoneware Advertising Jugs, NJ origin, circa 1868, both of similar cylindrical form with tooled spouts and slip-trailed cobalt inscriptions; a half-gallon jug inscribed "1/2 / S. Scheuer / 736 Broad St / Newark N.J." and a one-gallon jug inscribed "one / Schwartz & Froehlich / 74 N. Canal . st. / Newark / N.J." Half-gallon jug with shallow spout chips, a shallow glazed-over base chip, and a few tiny glazed-over lines to base. One-gallon jug with a chip to base of handle, chipping to spout, some fry to cobalt, and staining. H (of half-gallon jug) 9".
