Three Newark, NJ Stoneware Advertising Jugs with Cobalt Decoration, NJ origin, second half 19th century, a two-gallon jug, featuring the slip-trailed advertising, "E. Henn. / 682. W. Newark Ave. / J.C.H," stamped "UNION POTTERY / NEWARK, N.J. / H. ZIPF, PROP'R.," circa 1868; a one-gallon jug with slip-trailed vine decoration, stamped "SCHWARZWALDER,&,BRO / 34 MARKET ST / NEWARK NJ."; and a Bristol-slip-glazed jug, featuring the slip-trailed advertising, "Julius Solomon, / 225 Springfield Ave, / Newark, / N.J.," attributed to Fulper Pottery, Flemington, NJ, circa 1900. Two-gallon jug with some light fry to cobalt, some staining to surface, and spout chips. One-gallon Newark jug in excellent, essentially as-made condition. Fulper jug with reglued spout and reglued breaks to handle. H (of two-gallon jug) 14 3/4".
