Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Face Jug Signed "Lanier Meaders," Cleveland, GA origin, circa 1980, ovoid jug with applied facial features including kaolin eyes with bluish-black slip pupils, elongated chin, and unusual closed mouth with overbite, made without teeth. Surface covered in a mottled, olive-colored alkaline glaze. Underside incised with Lanier Meaders signature. A firing crack across underside, extending a short distance up base of jug on reverse, where it becomes glazed over. H 9 3/4".
