Two Stoneware Jars with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1870, two-gallon and three-gallon jars, both of ovoid form with tall collars and ribbed handles, each decorated with similar brushed foliate motifs on the front and reverse. Two-gallon jar with water glass staining, two small rim chips, a short hairline to underside, continuing several inches up front of jar, and some dryness to cobalt. Three-gallon jar with faint surface lines to underside and a shallow 3/4" chip to interior of rim. H (of two-gallon jar) 12".
