Two Williamsport, PA Stoneware Jars with Cobalt Leaf Decoration, circa 1875-1885, a one-gallon ovoid jar, stamped "SIPE, NICHOLS & CO. / Williamsport, Pa.," paired with a two-gallon ovoid jar, stamped "SIPE & SONS, / W'MSPORT PA." One-gallon jar with two lines on underside, one of which continues 5" up body of jar, where it forms a Y. Additionally a 3/4" line from rim on reverse and a contact mark to top of rim. Two-gallon jar in excellent condition with an in-the-firing iron ping to shoulder, some short, in-the-firing surface lines emanating from left rear handle terminal (not visible on interior), and some light water glass staining to interior. H (of larger jar) 10".
