Fine Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Oak Leaf and Acorn Motif, Stamped "F. STETZENMEYER. / ROCHESTER, N.Y.," circa 1860, ovoid jug with tapered spout, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of an oak branch bearing three leaves and an acorn. Artistic execution of the design includes heavy shading to the two rear leaves juxtaposed against a large-undecorated central leaf. Slip-trailed "3" above. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. A crack across underside, continuing onto side of jug, forming a curve. Salt drips to surface. Fry to cobalt. H 16 1/2".
