Three-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Stamped "JFS," James Franklin Seagle, Lincoln County, NC, third quarter 19th century, ovoid jar with narrow mouth and applied strap handles, the surface covered in a streaky green alkaline glaze with heavier runs descending from handles. Impressed "JFS / 3" at shoulder. A 1 1/4" hole near base, including a small reglued wedge, with cracks extending from it. A 7/8" chip to interior of rim. A tiny chip to inner rim for lid. Exfoliation to underside. H 14 1/2".
