Two Pieces of Advertising Stoneware, Western PA origin, circa 1875, a one-gallon jar, stenciled "E. MEYER. / DEALER IN / GROCERIES. / FLOUR & PRODUCE / 227 OHIO ST. / ALLEGHENY. PA.;" with a one-gallon jug, stenciled "G.E. LIPPENCOTT. / 539 Smithfield / St. / PITTSBURGH. PA. / DISTILLER & DEALER / CORN WHISKEY. WINES AND / BRANDIES." Jar with restoration to underside, extending to shoulder on front, with some touch-up to cobalt. Additionally, a 4 1/2" crack from rim on reverse. Jar is also out of round. Jug with some restoration to spout and a large restored area above stenciling, which involves the cobalt stripe. H (of jug) 11 1/2".
