Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "E S FOX ATHENS," NY State origin, circa 1840, highly-ovoid jug with squared spout, decorated with a large brushed design of a tulip plant with swag-shaped leaves. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Small base chips, most of which are glazed over. A shallow 3/4" spout chip, which is glazed over. A small glazed-over iron ping below decoration. H 16".
