Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt "Fishing Lure" Decoration, OH origin, circa 1880, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed floral design referred to among collectors as a "fishing lure" motif. Cobalt-script "4" to shoulder. A thin 5" crack from rim on reverse. A reglued 1 1/2" chip to front of rim. Three rim chips, one of which is partially filled and includes some crude overpaint. Some paint to rim. Two small chips to one handle. Minor wear to opposite handle. A small in-the-firing bloated spot below decoration. H 11 1/4".
