Rare Large-Sized Stoneware Canning Jar with Cobalt Double Shield Decoration, Western PA origin, circa 1875, tapered jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded "wax sealer" rim, decorated with a stenciled design of two Federal shields flanked by arrows. Scrolled motif above and freehand stripe at shoulder. Excellent condition with some very minor nicks to inner wax sealer rim, minor surface, wear and a small in-the-firing chip to underside. H 10 1/8".
