Rare Mocha-Decorated Redware Flowerpot, possibly John Bell, Waynesboro, PA, circa 1840-1880, tapered pot with crimped rim, the surface coated in cream-colored slip, decorated with large manganese mocha seaweed designs, and covered in a clear lead glaze. Additional seaweed decoration to rim. Includes original crimped saucer with cream-colored slip coating, sponged manganese, and clear lead glaze. Flowerpot with heavy chipping to rim and crimping, a thin 2 3/8" crack from rim, and base chips. Body of pot in very nice condition with some minor surface exfoliation. Saucer with chips to rim and crimping, as well as significant glaze loss to interior. H (including saucer) 7 5/8" ; Diam. (at rim) 8 1/2".
