Rare Half-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug with Kaolin Slip Decoration, attributed to Collin Rhodes, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1850, ovoid jug with tooled spout, the surface covered in a gray-green alkaline glaze and decorated in slip-trailed kaolin slip with a foliate device below the notation, "1/2," within a circle. Exceptional size. Provenance: A South Carolina private collection. Restored handle. A 2 1/4" line on underside, continuing 3 1/2" diagonally up base of jug. H 9 1/4".
