Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "W. ROBERTS. BINGHAMTON. NY.," circa 1870, cylindrical jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a long-tailed bird with striped details to wing and body, perched on a stylized vine. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Some light staining to surface. A 3" diagonal line at base on reverse. A faint 3" vertical line at midsection on reverse. A few in-the-firing discolored areas at base. A small base chip. H 14".
