Very Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt and Manganese Decoration, Stamped "A.E. SPENCER," Asa E. Spencer, Portage County, OH, circa 1860, ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated in cobalt with a brushed design of a flowering plant, including a spotted Germanic tulip at the center. Brushed manganese highlight to maker's mark. Manganese dashes to handle and cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Exfoliation to surface.
