Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jar with Stenciled Bird Motif, Stenciled "HAMILTON & JONES. / GREENSBORO. / PA.," circa 1875, tapered jar with a rounded "wax sealer" rim, decorated with a stenciled design of a flying bird surrounded by Hamilton & Jones maker's stenciling. Stenciled tulip motifs above and stenciled floral motifs flanking the initials "PA." Heavy chipping to interior of rim. Chips to inner wax sealer rim. Tight spider cracks to front. A short crack to rim on front. H 8 3/4".
