One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J.M HICKERSON / STRASBURG," VA origin, circa 1880, ovoid pitcher with flared collar and rounded rim, decorated with a brushed swag-and-hanging-flower motif in the style of Solomon Bell. Collar decorated with brushed swags on each side and angled striping along the spout. Impressed with James Hickerson maker's mark and a one-gallon capacity mark on side of collar. Left side of pitcher with professionally-restored 8"crack to body, extending 2 1/2" onto underside. A minor spout chip. Top of rim with a minor in-the-firing ping with minor in-the-firing separation above it.
