Rare Four-Gallon Lidded Stoneware Cake Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "W.B. KENNER / STRASBURG, VA," circa 1880, cylindrical crock with squared rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a swag and hanging flower motif on the front and reverse. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Impressed under one handle with the mark of pottery owner, W.B. Kenner, beside a four-gallon capacity mark. Includes loosely-fitting salt-glazed lid. Crock with rim and base chips as well as wear to rim. Heavy chipping to one handle. A 1 1/4" chip to opposite handle. Lid broken in half and reglued with additional chips.
