Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "RIEDINGER & CAIRE / POUGHKEEPSIE, NY," circa 1870, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed bird with crest and fan-shaped tail, perched on a stylized branch. An 8" crack from rim on reverse. A 6 1/4" crack on underside, extending 8" up front of crock. A 1 1/2" rim chip. A few minor chips to interior of rim.
