Rare Half-Gallon Allegheny City, PA Stoneware Advertising Jug, Stenciled "MADE BY / T.F. REPPERT. / GREENSBORO. PA.," circa 1880, ovoid jug with tooled spout, featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising, "HOWARD & SON, DISTILLERS. / WHOLESALE LIQUOR / DEALERS / 51 S. DIAMOND ST. / ALLEGHENY CITY. PA." Further stenciled below, "MADE BY / T.F. REPPERT. / GREENSBORO. PA." Cobalt highlight to upper handle terminal. The inclusion of Reppert's stenciled maker's mark at the base of this jug is rarely-seen on pieces of this type. Excellent condition with two smooth, in-the-firing contact marks to surface and some staining. H 9 1/2".
