Scarce Five-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Stamped "DH," Daniel Hartsoe, Lincoln County, NC, circa 1875, ovoid jar with heavily-tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied pocket-form handles, the surface covered in a mottled olive alkaline glaze with darker coloration to the handles. One handle impressed "DH" and "5." Among the rarer Lincoln County, NC maker's marks to come across, this example potted in an unusual large size, and surviving in exemplary condition. Provenance: Recently surfaced in the Southeastern U.S. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 16 1/4".
