Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Henry Harrison Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1835, ovoid jar with footed base, flared collar, and ribbed lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with three brushed daisy motifs. One side includes spots to the center of the flowers, while the other side omits them. Swag decoration under each handle. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A nicely-decorated example, with designs inspired by Remmey's tenure in Baltimore with his father. Excellent condition with a chip to exterior edge of rim, a small chip to interior of rim, and a minor nick to interior of rim. Shoulder with small in-the-firing iron ping.
