Very Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Pan with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "P. HISER & SONS / Washington, D.C.," late 19th century, tapered vessel with squared rim and applied tab handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a brushed cobalt floral motif related to Strasburg, Virginia designs. The Hiser family typically produced undecorated salt-glazed stoneware. This pan is one of a small number of cobalt-decorated pieces from this pottery known. Rim chips. Hairline on underside, continuing 1 1/2" up base of vessel. A minor, glazed-over chip on underside.
