Very Fine Stoneware Spittoon with Elaborate Cobalt Drape Decoration, attributed to Henry Remmey, Sr. or Jr. at Henry Myers's Baltimore Stoneware Manufactory, Baltimore, MD, circa 1825, cylindrical form with footed base, carved oval opening at shoulder and recessed circular opening on top; profusely-decorated around the body with a dramatic cobalt drape motif descending from a wavy line. Flower petal decoration around the opening at the shoulder. Three flakes to underside at edge, measuring 2 1/4", 1 3/8", and 1 1/4". A 7/8" base chip. Some faint crazing to top of spittoon. H 3 3/4" ; Diam. 7 1/4".
