Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Incised Floral Decoration, attributed to the Bissett Family, Old Bridge, NJ, circa 1820, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flared collar, and applied lug handles, decorated on the front with an incised and cobalt-highlighted design of a clustered flower blossom emanating from veined leaves. Reverse decorated with a brushed cobalt tulip. Provenance: From a forty-year private collection. A 1 1/8" chip to interior of rim. Some traces of old green paint to exterior surface. Remnants of black and green paint to interior.
