Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "W. ROBERTS BINGHAMTON. N Y.," circa 1870, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird with striped body and spotted wing, perched on a flowering plant. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Some fry to cobalt. Salt drips to right side of jar's front. A 1 5/8" chip to underside of left handle.
